Absolutely Bizarre

UCSB’s first rain of the school year accompanied quite a few odd events.

The rain itself was strange, to start. Everyone all over California was incurring the wrath of mother nature this morning—you’re never truly grateful for the invention of rainboots until you have to walk across campus in a downpour to get to class—only to be followed by a beautiful afternoon. Which of course meant that my plans for hibernating in my dorm room with a hot cup of cider and a good book had to be rescheduled for later.

And Steve Jobs? Still in shock. Like really, HOLY CRAP. And I thought Michael Jackson passing away two years ago was big news. It almost brought me to tears, partially because of such a brilliant mind leaving our world so early, and partially because I now know that a worthy iPhone 5 will truly never see the light of day. I guess the 4s will have to do. )’:

Oh, and Kobe Bryant came to UCSB as a guest speaker for a class today. Why don’t I ever know of these things until they’ve already happened?!

All in all, I feel completely jarred. Maybe tomorrow will be normal. But hey, normal is overrated anyway, right?
