Surprises All Around
Chad and I took Amtrak together for a surprise visit home! Our parents were in complete disbelief.
Saturday, I went out to breakfast, then to the Valley Fair Mall for birthday shopping! My parents bought me a few tops and a pair of Steve Madden boots.(: Woo!
Both Chad’s family and my own went out for dinner at the Melting Pot. It was delicious and a good time overall, especially since GLORIA showed unexpectedly right after they took our orders (Well, semi-unexpectedly. There were a number of clues that made me a bit suspicious beforehand…like requesting seven water glasses for the six people at our table…).
My parents convinced her to sleepover instead of heading back to Santa Cruz in the same night. We ended up baking pumpkin spice scones, grilling sage cheddar paninis, and staying up until 5am.
The weekend ended Sunday with a trip to Target and Sideboard for mac n’ cheese. Although the three days were short-lived, it was wonderfully refreshing, and just what I needed.
